Essaouira..Launching the Global Forum of Women for Peace – Zagora Press – Zagora Press

The “Warriors for Peace” movement, a movement of Jewish and Muslim women for peace, justice and equality, launched yesterday, Tuesday, in the city of Essaouira, the Global Forum of Women for Peace, on the occasion of International Women’s Rights Day.

The founding work of this global forum took its actual character, during a meeting attended by the royal advisor, the founding president of the Essaouira-Mogador Association, Andre Azoulay, the governor of the region, Adel Al-Maliki, the head of the Essaouira Collective Council, Tariq El-Othmani, and personalities and actors from various worlds.

Thus, I directed women from all parts of the world, activists for peace, and also committed to justice, emancipation and freedom, among them Jessica Muiza, an activist in the field of memory (Rwanda), and Huda Abu Arqoub, President of the Alliance for Peace in the Middle East (Palestine). Norith Harrag, on the Women Make Peace movement (Israel), a joint message to the world, which is like a call for peace.

Twelve female activists and activists, representing Morocco, Palestine, Rwanda, Senegal, Liberia and Israel, gave captivating testimonies, in which they shared their experiences, work and initiatives in favor of peace.

In a speech on this occasion, Hanna Assouline praised the organization of this meeting in “a charming city, in an African land, Morocco, a country that opened years ago a path and a path of lights.”

She added, “It is this recognition of the other in itself that motivates all of us here. This is what Morocco decided to reaffirm, years ago, especially when it included in the 2011 constitution the plurality of tributaries of Moroccan identity (Arab, Amazigh, Hebrew, African and Mediterranean), adding that this commitment by Morocco is a “valuable message to the world.”

She added, “It is this recognition of the other in itself that motivates all of us here. Assouline explained that this forum brings together women from all over the world, some of whom have never left their countries, and who met in Essaouira, to jointly launch this appeal and call on the world for peace, in a city that “wonderfully embodies the values ​​of dialogue and reconciliation.”

For her part, Fatima Boussou said that these women from all over the world “presented, bearing in Essaouira, the city of openness, culture and sharing, a common appeal to the world for peace.”

Subsequently, the female participants met in this forum in front of the walls of Sakala, in the city center of Essaouira, where they formed a “human chain” in favor of peace.

The participants had, before that, visited the Memory House, where Azoulay gave them extensive explanations about this spiritual and heritage space to preserve and value the Jewish-Moroccan memory.

The program of this event, on Sunday, at the Memory House, includes the screening of the movie “Warriors for Peace”, directed by Hanna Assoulin, and a march for peace, which starts from the Memory House towards the beach, where a footprint of peace will be left.
