EsSalud Huancavelica acquires 3D digital equipment to detect breast cancer

The Huancavelica Social Security Assistance Network (EsSalud) acquired a state-of-the-art 3D mammography equipment through public bidding, to reinforce the care of the insured in that region.

This team will allow the timely and effective detection of breast cancer cases for the benefit of EsSalud members. It is a Fujiflim brand innovation Amulet digital mammography machine, which was installed at Hospital II in Huancavelica.

This mammograph is valued at 938,128 soles and serves to facilitate the taking of the sample in a more detailed and comprehensive way, showing more images of the breast. Providing an early diagnosis of the oncological picture that occurs, in most cases, in women over 40 years of age.

The director of the EsSalud Huancavelica Assistance Network, Mavet Cuellar Huaman, highlighted the purchase of the mammogram that will allow the insured to have more accurate and effective results for a timely treatment of breast cancer.

On average, Hospital II in Huancavelica performed 3 to 4 tomographies per day, benefiting about 80 patients per month. With this acquisition, the number of tests to combat this disease can be significantly increased.
