It was in the air for several days and it is now official. Esperance Sportive de Tunis has formalized the signing of the contract of Yassine Meriah (29 years old) who will now be linked to the club until 2024.
Four years after leaving Club Sportif Sfaxien for adventures in Europe, Yassine Meriah will return to the Tunisian Pro 1 League. Free of any commitment after the termination of his lease with Al Ain earlier this week, the Tunisian international (59 games, 3 goals) strengthens the ranks of the Tunisian champion for two seasons.
The Tunisian defender returns after a long absence caused by a cruciate ligament injury and hopes to regain his level so that he is among the Carthage Eagles called up for the 2022 World Cup next November.
As a reminder, Yassine Meriah made his professional debut at AS Ariana in 2013 before joining ES Metlaoui two years later. After a stint at CS Sfaxien, he joined Olympiakos who loaned him twice to Turkey (Kasimpasa and Rizespor). He has been at Al-Ain FC since July 2021.
