Espalion, Laguiole, Sainte-Geneviève-sur-Argence… a relaxing day in the north of Aveyron

necessary
It’s summer, time to relax for a few hours. We offer you a small piece of road in the north of Aveyron

There is no specific guide or starting point for travel and relaxation north of Aveyron. Also, we’ll casually leave Espalion by telling ourselves we’ll treat ourselves to country food up there on the peaks of Aubrac when noon hits. For this, Espalion, and its many food shops, gives you the opportunity to stock up on good specialties to taste while you walk through the beautiful streets of the center. Then, the road goes towards Saint-Côme and its church with its intricate bell tower. A place not to be missed as this small town is one of the architectural jewels of Aveyron. It is well worth stopping for a coffee at a platform on a tour of the city.

Then, you have to go back to Aubrac, climb the long mountain that goes through the forest before you appear on the plateau. It is cooler, the view is clearer, we still remember the beautiful flowers that go over the meadows in the spring. A sight that often delights walkers and cyclists. In Aubrac, tourists walk through the small square while the pilgrims on the Way of Saint-Jacques will soon arrive in Saint-Chély. We leave them walking on the road that leads to Laguiole. This is the opportunity to stop in the parking lot of the ski center, climb one of the slopes and take shelter in the shade to eat to the maximum the food bought in Espalion. After that, why not treat yourself to a little nap?

Near the peninsula of Laussac

Time passes slowly but we have to leave and descend slowly towards Laguiole where the tourists lick the windows under the bull’s eye, always how stocky the snow is or the sun is shining. Our walk continues towards Lacalm where we turn left towards the Viadene just before we enter the town. We slide into nature on a road that does not have a straight line towards Sainte-Geneviève-sur-Argence, its small lake, the calm of its small streets. The aim is to reach the Truyère, its dam, to drive over to reach the peninsula of Laussac a few kilometers later, one of the unmissable places in Aveyron tourism. It is a place for a holiday between relaxation by the lake, the ability to rest and refresh in the water, the beauty of the landscape. A place to visit in spring and autumn as the magic of the place still works.

There, it is the beginning of the evening, there are a few restaurants waiting for us. The desire to relax at the end of a day in the north of Aveyron is as if the vacation ended for a few hours.
