The provinces of Espaillat and Pedernales will be the next to leave the curfew, as they advance in the vaccination of their population.
According to data from the Ministry of Public Health, released this Saturday, Espaillat, located in the north of the country, reaches 69.9% of its target population vaccinated with the first dose, while 63.2% already have the second vaccine against COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Pedernales, on the southern border of the country, has vaccinated 83.4% of its target population with a first dose, and 62.3% with the second.
These two are followed by San Pedro Macorís, to the east, which has 72.2% of people vaccinated with the first dose, and 58.7%, the second.
In this group, the tourist Puerto Plata advances, with 68.1% of the population with the first dose, and 58.6% who have already put the second.
For the government to lift the curfew, the provinces must reach 70% of their inoculated adult population, that is, with two doses. So far, only the National District and La Altagracia province have achieved the goal. In the other provinces, the curfew is in effect from 1:00 am to 5:00 am, seven days a week.
The furthest behind
San Cristóbal continues as the last in the vaccination line. The first dose accumulates 59.2%, and the second, 44.7%, the lowest in the country.
Monsignor Nouel is also in the group. It is the one with the lowest percentage of vaccinated, after San Cristóbal. There, only 53.9% of its population has the first dose of the biological against COVID-19, and 44.9% the second.
Elías Piña has 60.2% with the first dose, and 46.2 with the second.
La Vega, presents 55.6% with the first dose and 47.1 with the second.
Meanwhile, the Santo Domingo province remains equally far from reaching the grace offered by the authorities. The first dose accumulates 59.3% of the population and only 47.5 has received the second dose.
In this demarcation, the Public Health authorities have opted for house-to-house vaccination, in order to cover the largest possible population.
More than 10.6 million doses
As of August 13, in the Dominican Republic 10,601,438 doses of vaccines against the virus had been applied. Of these, 5,657,720 were from the first dose, while 4,438,630 were from the second. In the country, a third booster dose of Pfizer is also applied.
