Composer Ēriks Esšvalds’ author’s album “Translations” has been included in the selection of the best albums of the year by the critics of the prestigious British music magazine “Gramophone”, the portal of the publication “Kultūras Diena un Enterlaike” (KDi) reports.
According to this, the news of the current international recognition of Eschwald’s music has just gathered news about the inclusion of the composer’s author’s album “Translations” in the selection of the best albums of the year by the critics of the prestigious British music magazine “Gramophone”.
Critic Malcom Riley has chosen this favorite album, which was recorded by conductor Easten Sperry with the Portland Chamber Choir and released in March this year by the world’s largest music publisher “Naxos”.
“Translations”, the name of which coincides with the title of one of the compositions included in it, is already the ninth choral music album by Erik Eschenwald. It records the composer’s seven opuses: “O Salutaris Hostia”, “Heavenly Herd”, “Translations”, “I Write”, “Legend of the Bricked Wife”, “Vineta” and “In paradisum”.
Gramophone Editor’s Choice included Aspen’s “There Will Come Soft Rains,” recorded by the Western Pacific University Choir under the direction of Richard Nancy, among the best albums in April this year.
In May, the already mentioned Eschenwald author’s album “Translations” was among the best and most interesting new classical music albums in the selection of publishers “Editor’s Choice”.
