Escaped TBS’er Sherwin W. surrendered by Spain to the Netherlands | Interior

Escaped TBS’er Sherwin W., who was arrested in Spain two weeks ago, has been surrendered to the Netherlands. He arrived at Schiphol on Friday afternoon and will be handed over to the Judicial Institutions Agency, the Public Prosecution Service reports.

The 27-year-old W. escaped in June last year together with Luciano D. from the Pompekliniek in Nijmegen. They received help from outside. D. was arrested in The Hague after a nine-day manhunt, but W. was missing for a long time.

On February 24, W. was arrested in Murcia, a municipality in southeastern Spain. The search involved cooperation with Germany, Belgium and Spain, among others.

In 2019, W. received a prison sentence of 5.5 years and TBS for extortion and armed robbery, in which one of the victims died. After his escape, he was placed on Europol’s wanted list.
