In the end, it turned out that a father with six adult children lived on a farm in Ruinerwold, who waited together in seclusion for the End of Times. Four children left the farm earlier, on their own. Despite various accusations, the judge ruled that the father, Gerrit Jan van D., could not stand trial, because his poor health impeded a fair trial.
The family’s story was told through docuseries The children of Ruinerwold, which was broadcast by BNNVARA in March and April 2021. And this series Israel, two brothers and one sister told their story.
