Director Tobias Wiemann did not only visit the old homeland for the cinema screening. There was a lot to talk about, after all, the story from the Nazi era is highly topical.
Ueckermünde
It was the first time that Tobias Wiemann invited to a film talk in the Ueckermünde cinema. That didn’t happen at the city premiere of “Kleinstadtbig” or in the hit film “Amelie rennt”. This time, however, the director and his wife Jytte-Merle Böhrnsen decided to have such a conversation on Saturday after the film in cinema hall 2, which was sold out.

Escape story from Nazi Germany
The audience gave a lot of applause. It then took the opportunity to ask the Torgelow-raised director, actress and screenwriter about his or her latest film, The Path. The family and youth film tells the story of an escape from Nazi Germany via France and the Pyrenees to Spain in order to get to New York by ship.

emotion and enthusiasm
The viewers learned that the two had come across the material at the Berlinale 2017, that the child actress Nonner Cardoner didn’t speak a word of German at first and practiced for weeks, or that the film will be shown at a children’s film festival in Malmö in March. “I’m so impressed with this film,” said a woman in the audience. Everything was correct. Escape is again a highly topical issue these days, so that she was also moved to tears. “His films keep getting better,” said Wiemann’s father, Heinz Wiemann, at the end.
