The building of the elementary school Bad Endorf is showing its age. The new building is already a done deal. Until then, the market town wants to take some more money and invest in the fire protection of the old building. Because in an emergency, the rescue workers could get into trouble.
Bad Endorf – As Dominik Fochler, technical supporter in the building authority, explained at the latest meeting of the market town council, the municipal administration commissioned the Traunstein planning group Strasser with the creation of a fire protection certificate. From this it emerged that the building would have completely smoked up very quickly during a fire. This would cut off the escape routes.

Stairwells must be separated from each other
As Fochler further explained, this results in a concept of measures. In addition to the installation of radio-networked smoke alarms for an early alarm, this also includes the creation of alternative escape routes. To do this, the two stairwells on the ground floor would have to be separated from each other and from the other corridors. In addition, the doors are to be upgraded in terms of fire protection. The costs for this are 95,000 euros – including planning costs of 23,000 euros.
A minimum concept for bridging is sought
Mayor Alois Loferer (CSU) added that the implementation of the measures is a minimal concept that the community voluntarily implements in order to ensure the fire protection requirements until the move to the new school building. The targeted date for this is set for 2026.

The old building can still be used after moving
Eduard Huber (Greens) wanted to know whether the old building could still be used after the move. This plan remains unaffected by the fire protection measure, countered Loferer. Dr. Maren Weigand (ÜWG-FL) inquired about the condition of the new fire protection doors to ensure that they are appropriately equipped so that they do not block the aisles. Josef Forstner jun. (CSU) pointed out that he would like an attractive door at the main entrance. Fochler explained that the new door, while not exactly the same, is similar in style.
Staircases are connected
“The focus is on personal protection and should be a relief for the rescue workers in the event of a fire”, Loferer emphasized in conclusion. Because all corridors and stairwells are connected, the smoke could spread so massively within a short time that the fire Department there would be no other option than to save everyone through the windows. With the exception of a few classes, all areas could be separated from one another in such a way that the escape route for most of the school would lead via the second stairwell.
The committee unanimously decided to implement the minimum concept that had been developed.
