In the midst of the pre-Christmas bustle, two armed men broke into a luxury watch shop on Hamburg’s Gänsemarkt. They break the windows with a hammer and escape with their loot. After a serious alarm, the police had to suspend an unsuccessful search.
In a robbery of a jewelry store in central Hamburg, the perpetrators stole high-quality jewelry on Tuesday evening. According to initial findings, two suspects are on the run, a police spokesman said. The spokesman was initially unable to say whether other people were involved in the shop robbery on Neue ABC-Straße. Nobody was hurt.
The perpetrators struck in the hustle and bustle of the evening affairs four days before Christmas Eve near the Gänsemarkt. The spokesman did not provide any information on the exact value of the loot. It is a high quality jewel. According to the police, the perpetrators carried firearms during the robbery. A destroyed display case and a hammer were seen at the scene.
A sniffer dog used by officials picked up a trail to Rödingsmarkt metro station, where it got lost, the spokesman added late in the evening. Another track led to the Stadthausbrücke S-Bahn station, but got lost there. Two electric scooters and black gloves, which the perpetrators likely wore, were secured, police said. Additionally, video recordings were requested from a stop near the jewelry store. Police operations were canceled late in the evening.
As “Hamburger Abendblatt” reports, the perpetrators were primarily targeting high-quality watches. The shop that was robbed was a well-known watch dealer who also had a branch on Sylt. The newspaper estimates the value of the loot at over two million euros.
