The latest update of Escape from Tarkov is released today, which will finally open up the long-awaited “Streets of Tarkov” zone… or part of it, anyway. There’s a new area to explore, new skills to learn, new weapons to get used to. Finally, with the release of the update, the game has added support for AMD FSR 2.1 smart scaling and much more.
Like the previous patch 0.12.12.30, patch 0.13 adds new elements to the Escape from Tarkov map, although this time the changes are quite significant. The roads that Battlestate has been talking about for a while are now explorable, though not all of the new territory is available just yet.
According to Battlestate and the 0.13 patch notes, this update adds “a part of the city of Tarkov located at the intersection of Primorsky Prospekt and Klimov Street.” Among the new locations to explore are a hotel, a news agency building, an abandoned factory and “other urban infrastructure”. More locations in the city will be added in future updates.
Of course, that’s not all that’s on offer in the new Escape from Tarkov update. New abilities and weapons have been added to the game to aid you in combat, including the GP-25 grenade launcher, SR-2M submachine gun, and RSH-12 assault revolver. The new “Light Armor” and “Heavy Armor” skills allow you to specialize in any type of armor, and the “Charisma” skill has also been redesigned: it now affects the cost of insurance, paid declarations and much more.
Repair Kits also got some fun new effects in this update. Weapons, Vests, and Plates can now receive a Standard or Rare upgrade if you repair them with a Repair Kit. Of course, there are caveats – for example, to improve items, you need to reach level 10 of the corresponding skill. Be sure to read the patch notes to find out exactly how the new repair kit mechanic works.
If you prefer the friendlier, less stressful Tarkov, you’ll be happy to know that the co-op mode has also received some changes. New settings have been added to reduce energy and water consumption, as well as the ability to customize bots or completely remove them from the game. New stimuli have also been added, and some bosses will show new voice lines.
