They have escaped from Asstalten Skenäs approximately three miles outside Norrköping, confirms Monica Bergström, spokesperson for the Correctional Service, to Swedens radio.
– We try to get hold of them, but are unsuccessful. So they are wanted, says Robert Gustafsson in the Swedish police.

Norrköping’s newspapers writes that the five escaped at 11 o’clock on Saturday evening.
Aftonbladet and Sveriges Radio first wrote that there was a large police hunt for the fugitives. The police themselves refute this The evening paper.
– The police were there last night, and since we couldn’t find them, they have been wanted. It is not a case that the police are actively working on now. There is no ongoing police effort, says Gustafsson to Aftonbladet.
Open sentencing
Anstalten Skenäs is a low-security prison with security class 3, so-called “open sentencing”. The prison has 164 places, and is Sweden’s largest in the lowest security class.
These prisons tend to house first-time offenders or people who have committed less serious offences, according to the report The evening paper.
But people who have committed more serious offenses can also serve the last part of their sentence in these prisons, writes the newspaper.

Correction
In an earlier edition of this case, it was stated that Aftonbladet and Sveriges Radio wrote that there was a large police manhunt in Sweden. The police are now refuting this to Aftonbladet.
