Two foreign nationals were wounded in northern Israel on Saturday, as exchanges of fire continued between the Israeli army and Hezbollah fighters, medics reported.
Tensions have escalated in the border area with Lebanon, where there is a daily exchange of fire between the Israeli army and Lebanese Hezbollah.
At least three separate incidents occurred on Saturday in different parts of northern Israel, one of which was a bombing near the Margaliot area on the border with Lebanon, where two Thai citizens were injured.
The Magen David Adom emergency medical service in Israel said in a statement, “One of them suffered moderate injuries in the chest and the other in the extremities.”
Since the outbreak of fighting along the border, at least 4 people have been killed in Israel, 3 soldiers and 1 civilian.
In Lebanon, the escalation has so far resulted in the killing of 23 people, the majority of whom are Hezbollah fighters, in addition to 5 fighters from Palestinian factions and four civilians, including a photographer for the Reuters news agency.
Saturday’s clashes coincided with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant inspecting the northern border, where he called on soldiers to remain “vigilant.”
The minister’s visit came after a call to evacuate the northern town of Kiryat Shmona on Friday amid escalating fighting in the area.
