Most people with omicron infections are mild, the European Medicines Agency said on Thursday, November 9th.
The European Medicines Agency has stated that both the new strain of the virus and the effectiveness of existing vaccines are being studied.

“Currently, we do not have enough data on the effects of this type on the effectiveness of approved vaccines. However, we are constantly researching for evidence. In any case, we are ready to act quickly if the need arises. “

Given the prevalence of omicron, vaccine manufacturers have already begun to adapt it, and the European Medicines Agency estimates that improved vaccines could be approved in three to four months.
Currently available studies suggest that the course of the disease was largely mild when infected with the omicron strain. However, it is still being investigated whether the new strain could also cause serious illness.
Concerns about the spread of omicoron are one of the reasons why several countries are renewing various restrictions. The United Kingdom has also announced an increase in security measures. From tomorrow, 10 December, masks will again be mandatory in almost all public places. To attend mass events and nightclubs, you will need to present a Covid-19 certificate, and from Monday, December 13, employees will be required to work from home whenever possible.
Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

“It is becoming increasingly clear that the omicron is spreading much faster than the previous delta. And it is spreading all over the world. A total of 568 cases have been confirmed in all regions of the United Kingdom by genome sequencing. But the real number is definitely much higher. ”

The omicron strain of Covid-19 has been detected in dozens of countries and has reached thousands of confirmed infections.
