Dominican pitcher Ervin Santana had a masterful performance in the relief role, throwing three scoreless innings with seven strikeouts.
In addition, the Dominicans Adalberto Mondesí and Carlos Santana hit home runs in the beating that the Kansas City Royals gave the Arizona Diamondbacks 10-1.
Mondesí went 3-1 and Santana 2-2 with two runs scored.

Dominican right-hander Francelis “Frankie” Montás exited Thursday’s game against the Mariners at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, Arizona, due to a cuticle tear on the middle finger of his right hand.
After walking Dylan Moore in the third inning, Montás hit Jarred Kelenic with a pitch.
When he saw the bleeding in the Dominican’s pants, manager Bob Melvin went to the hill next to the medical team. Seconds later, Montás was removed from the field and replaced by Venezuelan Deolis Guerra.
Montas threw two innings of three hits, four runs, three walks and two strikeouts in his Oakland team’s 10-1 win over the Seattle Mariners.
