Eruption volcano La Palma increased in strength

The north side of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the Canary Island of La Palma has collapsed, local media report. Lava has been spewed meters high into the air. The lava now emerging from the crater is flowing faster and in greater quantities than before.

A local radio station says it is afraid of surrounding villages. “A marked increase in activity has been observed in recent minutes,” the Canary Islands Volcanic Institute, Involcan, previously wrote on Twitter.

The volcano made a loud booming noise and lava exploded from the crater. The service posted some photos of the new eruption on Twitter.
