Etna, Europe’s largest volcano, has erupted with a loud bang of deep lava, firing hot ashes into the night sky.
The blurred lava painted the surrounding landscape in glowing shades of orange, which was hurried to capture by locals at a safe distance and also by a professional photographer.
The activity of the volcano did not affect the operation of the nearby Catania International Airport and the life of local villages. However, people were warned of possible complications and flight delays due to volcanic ash.
Mount Etna is the largest of the three active volcanoes in Italy, including Stromboli and Mount Vesuvius near Naples, which last erupted in 1944.
