Errors in the 1967 Film Adaptation of Anna Karenina by Alexander Zarkhi

Only a few managed to find errors in the film.

Alexander Zarkhi presented his vision of the legendary novel by Leo Tolstoy in 1967. The director invited Tatyana Samoilova, who is still considered the best incarnation of Anna Karenina on the screens, to play the main role. Fans showered her with enthusiastic compliments, but only big fans of the novel were able to understand where the director went wrong.

The fact is that Samoilova is not like Karenina. On the pages of the work you can see a very accurate description of the heroine. And, as Tolstoy points out, Karenina has gray eyes and black hair. Researchers are sure that he copied the image of the heroine from Maria Pushkina, the eldest daughter of the poet Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin, who could boast of gray eyes and very dark hair.

Samoilova looks at the audience from the screens with dark brown, almost black eyes. And her hair is brown, which doesn’t match the description. But, as fans are sure, these inconsistencies do not in any way affect the quality of the film or the performance of the artist herself.
