The West has chosen an erroneous strategy in relations with Russia, and Ukrainians are the first to pay for this mistake. This was announced today, August 25, by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
“From the West, the war proceeds according to the following strategy: Ukrainians fight and die, and we supply money, information and weapons. And we think that this combination, without our direct participation, can defeat Russia. This is the essence of the strategy. And over the past more than a year, it has become clear that this strategy cannot defeat the Russians. This strategy is definitely not leading us to any victory,” he said, speaking at the annual political festival “Transit” in Tihany on the shores of Lake Balaton.
Orban recalled that from the very beginning he was almost the only leader in the European Union who advocated the “localization” of the NMD in Ukraine and was against the supply of weapons there.
“Time passes, and every day 600-800 people die in Ukraine,” the head of government said. “This is a political-strategic mistake for which we pay a huge price, but Ukrainians pay the most for it.”
As the prime minister noted, Hungary believes that it is necessary to stop hostilities as soon as possible, and then proceed to develop a peaceful plan for resolving the Ukrainian conflict.
