This 2025, almost 21 years later, although without the actress who characterized the unforgettable Mia Colucci, the protagonists of the television series Rebelde Way will return to the capital to take the stage and take us on a journey of pure nostalgia to the rhythm of each of their hits -which are not few-. But, how did an Argentine teenage band come to conquer prime television and the youthful hearts of Peruvians?

Rebelde Way’s band
The colossal group composed of Felipe Colombo, Camila Bordonaba, Benjamín Rojas and Luisana Lopilato would establish itself as the musical phenomenon of the moment thanks to its easy-to-digest and quite melodic pop-rock style, back in 2002, as the first protagonists of the youth series television show Rebelde Way and then, as the musical band Erreway, which would arrive in Lima in 2004 and, after touring almost all of South America, Europe and even Israel, would end up dissolving in 2008.
They arrived in Lima before, in 2003 and due to their resounding success – a concert held on the esplanade of the National Stadium -, they decided to return the following year to make the Plaza de Acho collapse with a 360 stage and a very particular style that immediately He knew how to win the sympathy of Peruvian youth.
The formula seemed simple: the appeal was in the idea of rebellion and youth stories that captivated by their somewhat raw and sincere treatment of a stage like adolescence, and that was brilliantly contrasted through the character played by Luisana Lopilato: Mia Colucci, the millionaire girl who had everything and who ends up falling in love with the poor boy (Felipe Colombo) and a scholarship recipient at the private school Elite Way School.
De Erreway a RBD
Erreway wasn’t just a band; It was a phenomenon that synthesized the spirit of a generation. His music, born from the Argentine series Rebelde Waywas an amalgamation of catchy melodies and lyrics that spoke of friendship, love, and teenage challenges. In Peru, the success of the series was overwhelming.
Broadcast in prime time, it became a family ritual and the central axis of conversations between friends. But beyond the screen, it was their music that cemented that bond. songs like “Sweet Baby” y “Beautiful More” They became anthems for teenagers who found in them an echo of their own dreams and emotions.
Its success would be so great that years later, Televisa acquired the rights to create its own Mexican version which it would call Rebelde and which, between 2004 and 2006, would also give rise to the creation of a band called RBD. Today both series can be seen on Netflix, which also tried to repeat the formula with the Spanish series Elite in 2018.
Erreway, the Argentine youth band, visited Lima twice, in 2003 and for the last time in 2004.
The announcement of its return for 2025 has awakened a nostalgia that crosses generations. Although Luisana Lopilato will not be part of this new stage (for now not in the concerts outside Argentina), the expectation to see Felipe, Camila and Benjamín on stage again is immense. For many, it is not just about a concert, but the opportunity to relive a stage in their lives marked by the energy and emotions that Erreway was able to capture so well.
Two decades later, Felipe is already 41 years old, Camila is 40 and Benjamín – the coolest one – is about 39. Time, time moves on, and in the midst of the fashion for band reunions, Erreway could not be the exception. For now, his music will surely be played again on YouTube and Spotify, those two new digital stages where the soundtrack of our lives parades with and without ads.
Erreway, like few bands, managed to be more than a passing fad. In their music and their history, there is an essence that remains despite the years (and decades). Their return is not just the return of a band, it is the return of a phenomenon that, like music itself, can go out of style, but is not forgotten.
