On the occasion of the first municipal council of the year, in Erquy (Cotes-d’Armor), Thursday January 20, 2022, the mayor, Henri Labbé, presented the new director general of services, Michaël Nicolas, to the elected officials. He has succeeded Franck Nivet since January.
Originally from Ploemeur, in Morbihan, and father of three children, Michaël Nicolas is 39 years old and comes from Gironde. He says he is delighted to return to Brittany to support his family there.
The career of Michaël Nicolas
He entered the civil service in 2006. He then held his first position in Eure-et-Loir, as Childhood Youth Coordinator and also Director of Services. In 2013, he passed the category A competition to become a territorial attaché and then joined the community of municipalities of Blaye, in Gironde. In 2015, he passed a Master’s degree in business administration (MBA) in territorial public management, at Sciences Po in Rennes, followed in 2017 by a category A competition, to become a principal attaché.
In Gironde, I was responsible for coordinating the territory project, in addition to the duties of director of education and culture. I managed the leisure centers, the music school, it was a very interesting position.
A budgetary context and great projects
Michaël Nicolas arrives in Erquy in a particular context, in particular with the Covid-19, which has immobilized many municipal employees in recent weeks. The protocols had to be put in place very quickly. I received a very warm welcome, whether from agents or elected officials. It is nice to see that the teams remain mobilized and that they have a sense of public service. I arrive in the period of budget construction, while I discover the files.
If he is in the observation phase, the new DGS knows that he will have to be reactive. In the longer term, my role is to ensure that the projects and actions of elected officials succeed, there are great projects launched
, concludes Michaël Nicolas.
