The decision to restructure the municipalities from 262 to 44 will allow better distribution and development in favor of the population, commented the president of the Legislative Assembly, Ernesto Castro.
He recalled that “in El Salvador, we have a lot to do, but thank God we have made progress.” He added that the country is experiencing a historic moment with the changes that are taking place.
For President Castro, the new territorial distribution as of May 1, “we believe that this will give the opportunity, especially to small municipalities that were condemned to poverty, to have development.”
The legislator from Nuevas Ideas stated that “we need governance in the territories. With new leadership managing hand in hand with the Executive and with the support of the Legislature, there will be good results in favor of Salvadorans.”
The deputy president said that we must not forget that many mayors used the FODES as their petty cash and left the municipalities in total abandonment, affecting their residents who did not see their taxes transformed into works.
