The aim of physical education is to enable the students to enjoy a wide range of exercise experiences.
Learning a wide range of sports motor skills and abilities can thus help to motivate them to do sports beyond their school days and, last but not least, to compensate for the lack of exercise that is widespread nowadays.
Our students have the opportunity to practice both traditional and modern sports, such as B. Parkour, Jumpstyle, Ultimate Frisbee, fitness to learn. In addition to the acquisition of sporting techniques, imparting team spirit, experiencing one’s own strengths and weaknesses and fair cooperation are important to us, which are important for the personal development of children and young people.
At the Ernestinenschule, sport is taught for 1.5 to 2.5 hours (60 minutes) depending on the level. In 5th grade, for example, 2 x 60 minutes in the first half of the year and 1 x 60 minutes and 1 x 120 minutes in physical education in the second half of the year.
In addition to sport-specific class competitions (e.g. in the 5th class, Völkerball), traditional athletics national youth games and an alternative track and field class competition take place every year.
If possible and interested, particularly high-performing pupils are given the opportunity to participate in comparative school competitions, such as city championships and youth training for the Olympics.
In order to enable successful participation with regard to the Senate relay day and the Lübeck swimming relay competitions, the school offers training times in the form of working groups. We also take part in the dragon boat races in summer with great enthusiasm.
