Ernando Ari: The Only Failed Executor in the AFF U-23 Cup Final Explained by Shin Tae-yong

Jakarta

Ernando Ari being the only executor of the Indonesian National Team who failed in the final AFF U-23 Cup. Coach Shin Tae-yong explained why the goalkeeper stepped forward as the executioner.

Indonesia vs Vietnam will be the top match for the 2023 AFF U-23 Cup final. The match will be held at the Rayong Provincial Stadium, Thailand starting at 20.00 WIB, Saturday (26/8) evening WIB.

Garuda squad in the process lost 5-6 in a penalty shootout. The two teams previously played out a goalless draw for 120 minutes.

Ernando Ari was an additional executor after all the kickers from both teams were able to carry out their duties properly. Unfortunately for Ernando, he was the only kicker who failed to score.

Ernando’s failure seemed to take away his slick performance during the match. He even managed to brush off a Vietnamese player’s penalty in the first round.

Ernando actually wasn’t pretending to be the executor when there were high-fives. Coach Shin Tae-yong has prepared all players to be kickers.

“We only have 5 substitute players so we have to prepare well in case of extra time,” said Shin Tae-yong.

“Ernando is full of confidence. He also performed very well. He practiced penalties in training, but failed in the match and please continue to support him,” he continued.
