Details: IN message The OP indicated that Ermak promised Szijjarto the adoption of “a number of important European integration bills” in the coming days. The head of the Presidential Office expressed hope for a “positive decision” at the EU summit on December 14-15 on the start of negotiations with Ukraine on membership in the European Union.
The parties also agreed to work on the upcoming meeting between President Vladimir Zelensky and Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban.
The day before, Szijjarto said that the head of the OP allegedly canceled what was planned the day before December EU summit meeting with him. In Kyiv they said then that the meeting was postponed until the final agreement on changes to the laws on minority rights.
Hungary, as is known, systematically blocks the adoption of any decisions related to Ukraine at the meeting of EU leaders – from the start of negotiations to the approval of 50 billion euros of macro-financial assistance.
French President Emmanuel Macron invited the Hungarian Prime Minister on December 7 to find a compromise regarding the start of negotiations with Ukraine on its accession to the EU.
According to media reports, due to the opposition of Budapest, EU states still haven’t come to an agreement on the formulation of the final decision of the EU summit.
