VIVA – Erling Haaland is not included in Manchester City’s squad for the away match against Luton Town on Sunday, 10 December 2023.
The 23-year-old has started all 15 of Manchester City’s Premier League games so far this season, scoring 14 goals, but he will not be involved when they face the Hatters, reports The Athletic.
Pep Guardiola told Sky Sports about his problem: “Bone stress reaction in his leg, after the last game against Aston Villa he felt like this and he couldn’t play.”
On how serious the injury is, he added: “I don’t know. Week by week, day by day, we’ll see what happens.”
Manchester City are in good shape in terms of player availability, with only Kevin De Bruyne still absent due to injury.
Jeremy Doku is nursing a minor muscle injury and could be back on Sunday at Kenilworth Road, although may not be risked.
Even without the Premier League’s top scorer, Manchester City will travel to Luton as favorites to take all three points and move back to within four points of leaders Liverpool.
Victory would mean nothing for City’s position in the league, who are currently stuck in fourth place, but it would mean just four points between the top four, which includes Arsenal and Aston Villa.
Manchester City are next in action after their trip to Luton on Wednesday with a visit to Red Star in the Champions League.
Haaland is unlikely to play in that match as Pep Guardiola’s side have already secured top spot in the group stage so the Norwegian may not be risked.
