Erling Braut Haaland named Premier League player of the month as first Norwegian – VG

This was stated by the Premier League on Twitter. Many Norwegians have ventured into the Premier League since the start of the league in the early 1990s, but this is the first time a Norwegian player has received this award.

Haaland has been working hard after moving to Manchester City and is already starting to do so break scoring records.

The 22-year-old has scored ten goals in his first six PL games. Nine of the goals came in August in matches against West Ham (2), Newcastle, Crystal Palace (3) and Nottingham Forest (3).

Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard was also nominated for the award. This is the second time the Norwegian has been nominated.

The Premier League kicked off with Player of the Month awards ahead of the 1994/95 season.

These were the other nominees for the August award: Pascal Gross (Brighton), Gabriel Jesus (Arsenal), Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham), Nick Pope (Newcastle), Rodrigo (Leeds) and Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace).

Haaland also got off to a good start for City in the Champions League. There were two goals in the first match of the group stage, and on Wednesday he followed another goal against the old Dortmund club.

On Saturday afternoon at Haaland he will be back in action at 1.30pm. Then Wolverhampton waits away from home for the Azzurri.
