Erling Braut Haaland | Must be at the top of Chelsea’s wish list:

Interest is growing around the Norwegian star, but currently Erling Braut Haaland is a Borussia Dortmund player.

Braut Haaland is among the hottest players in the world, and the Norwegian’s club future is constantly up for discussion.

In recent days, reports that Chelsea will be willing to pay a huge sum for the goal machine have begun to swirl.

Borussia Dortmund is said to have set a price tag of around NOK 1.7 billion for the 20-year-old.

Towards the reports

On Wednesday, Jan Åge Fjørtoft visited Twitch-streamen to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, to talk about several of Norway’s hottest players in this summer’s transfer window. Erling Braut Haaland was naturally a big topic of conversation, and Fjørtoft had a lot on his mind.

– It has been reported in several places on Twitter that Erling Braut Haaland agrees with Chelsea on the personal terms, and that is completely wrong. That’s just nonsense. I have said that Haaland is Chelsea’s clear target, but that does not mean he is going to Chelsea. They are certainly interested, but there has been no official bid, says the former national team striker and current expert in Viasat.

Earlier Wednesday, Haaland posted a picture from Dortmund’s training ground:

He goes on to say that Chelsea’s process of acquiring Haaland has been going on for a long time.

– I remember that I started to inquire about it even before the Champions League final, and then it was clear that they had made Haaland their big priority, he says.

And continues:

– The club has a supportive owner in Roman Abramovich who shows up, and provides the funds needed to create a team. The question is whether he will throw money at Haaland now, before they can sell away players themselves and create balance in the accounts.

Last summer, the London club pocketed large sums for Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, among others, and may be forced to sell several of its big stars this summer. Callum Hudson-Odoi, Tammy Abraham and Hakim Ziyech are some of the names that may be on the way out.

– Do not think it happens

For those Chelsea supporters who should have a hope of seeing Haaland in blue already this summer, Romano pours cold water over the years during the conversation.

– I have understood it so that it will be extremely difficult for Chelsea to persuade Borussia Dortmund in this situation. We are talking about large sums.

Fjørtoft is also asked if he thinks Haaland will stay in Dortmund, or disappear.

– To be honest, I’m relatively sure that there will be no transition on Erling this summer. It takes so much for something to happen, and the price is very high. Dortmund are going to sell Sancho, so I think it is unlikely that they will sell both of their young stars.

He was also asked about the future of Jens Petter Hauge, who has been linked to Fjørtoft’s old club Eintracht Frankfurt. The German club is said to have placed a bid for the Norwegian, but AC Milan have so far refused.

– I have told the club that I like the player, but I do not want them to let go of Kostic. Hauge will fit well into German football, so hopefully this can be a good transition for Jesper Petter Hauge. The talks between Frankfurt and Milan continue, concludes Fjørtoft, who also appears as an ambassador for the club.
