With the Electrisize, Erkelenz has a major musical event that is now attracting attention across Germany. According to the plan of cultural manager Sascha Dücker, a second is to be added in the coming year: The “Hohenbusch Klassixx” should not only attract some of the best musicians in Europe to the Erka city, but also many visitors from all over the region.
Dücker has now presented the plans to the Erkelenz cultural committee. Accordingly, the new festival is to take place for the first time on the grounds of Haus Hohenbusch at the end of August 2022. Dücker has an ambitious plan: “It should be a classical music festival, to which we will bring world-class people to Erkelenz.” Paris, Nancy, Monte Carlo and California. He now wants to use these contacts: The premiere in 2022 should be an “Italian Night”. The city announces international opera stars, such as soloists from the Salzburg Festival, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein or the Paris and Vienna State Operas. Dücker is optimistic about the event, which is supposed to take place annually: “Musicians from Paris, New York and Vienna have promised me. An event of this format cannot be filled exclusively with singers from Krefeld or Mönchengladbach. “In Hohenbusch, they wanted to” choose the wonderful atmosphere and flair of this unique location as the background to create a great classical music event. “

The culture committee followed the announcement with interest, but some members asked themselves whether there was sufficient interest in the region and within what framework the price level had to move. Dücker assured that there will be tickets at affordable prices, including heavily discounted tickets for schoolchildren.

Two weeks before the “Hohenbusch Classixx”, the Electrisize Festival is already taking place on the meadow behind the monastery, with a good 25,000 visitors. The city wants to work closely with the organizer Kulturgarten GmbH and use their infrastructure. “We would have liked to have done that a week after the Electrisize, then the organization would have been even easier,” said Dücker. This is not possible, however, because the celebrations of the Heinsberg district for the 50th anniversary will take place this weekend and the events will therefore overlap.

The festival should not remain the only innovation in the city’s cultural program. Once a year, well-known actors are to come to Erkelenz for a talk, and Dücker is also planning a personal “house concert” at which he will appear himself.
