Eritrean party in Tilburg gets out of hand, agents pelted with stones

An Eritrean party in the Seven Hills Party & Events building on the Zevenheuvelenweg in Tilburg got out of hand on Saturday night. A well-known Eritrean singer performed there. 150 tickets had been sold for this concert, but about a hundred people without tickets tried to storm into the hall, according to a 112 correspondent. Security then called the police for help.

The atmosphere was grim, a police spokesman said. “Certainly towards the police.”

When the officers, in consultation with the owner of the business and security, decided to end the performance, things caught on fire. The disgruntled visitors reacted “very aggressively”, according to the spokesperson. “At one point, stones were thrown at the officers. A rear light of a police car was destroyed.”

‘There were about twenty police cars’
The officers then decided to intervene. Police officers from Den Bosch and Eindhoven came to Zevenheuvelenweg to help their Tilburg colleagues. Dogs were also used.

The Zevenheuvelenweg was closed to traffic by the police. “There were about twenty police cars,” says the 112 correspondent.

Multiple charges
Several charges were carried out after which calm returned. Eventually all visitors of the Eritrean party left.

The police are looking at camera images, among other things, to find out who is responsible for the destruction of the police car.
