The renovation is now paused to investigate three different options because the renovation of the bath would be very expensive.
Demolishing and building a new bath on the site is an option. The other two are about renovating Eriksdalsbadet as it is or simultaneously moving the national arena for swimming to a separate location and maintaining a swimming and sports facility for the public.
– Eriksdalsbadet is not just an ordinary bath, says Clara Lindblom (V), housing and property councillor.
It is both an adventure pool and the national arena for swimming, notes Lindborg, and has far more visitors than what it was built for. She herself would like to keep the adventure pool.
– I think it is important. Partly because it is appreciated by Stockholmers who cannot go away on holiday and partly because splashing and playing are important for learning to swim.
