Now, however, it seems that the participation comes with a downside for Erika. In social media, she has cried her tears – and she has even gone so far as to state that she would retire.

The reason why she is so upset seems to be about two things: That she herself is disappointed with her own performance on Saturday, and that she now has to face a storm of criticism.
I myself reviewed the song ahead of the dolphin final together with colleague Pål Nisja-Wilhelmsen, we rolled the dice one.
I stand for that.
Forced to endure feedback
I think the song is absolutely horrible, the concept worse – and nothing was improved by seeing it live. The stage show did not save anything at all.
Unfortunately, I don’t think the vocals were up to par either. It may have been nerves, which is perfectly fine, but it must be allowed to point it out nonetheless.
This is my opinion. A lot of people disagree with me, that’s also perfectly fine.
I understand that it can be hard to get a lot of criticism, but Erika Norwich actually has to endure this kind of feedback when she is in MGP.

NRK’s responsibility
MGP is and will be a large and important music festival. The fans follow the program with deep interest year after year, and it is natural that strong opinions emerge both here and there.
I understand that there is sometimes a lot of pressure involved when you are in the circus, but you have to be prepared for that – or you have to leave it alone and stay at home.
So I hope Erika (and the others) have been well informed in advance, and drilled in what it is like to be involved, by NRK.
Now it is NRK’s responsibility to follow up and give her the support she needs.

Clear message to the trolls
However, one thing must be clarified and emphasized. Erika does not only experience receiving criticism and strong opinions. Hatred and incitement abound in social media.
It’s hair-raising to see what people can get themselves to write and it’s a shame that grown people don’t have better self-control.
Harassment is not something Erika or other artists should or should tolerate.
So now I really hope everyone who spews out hate, threats, ugly, mean comments and personal attacks from time to time can take care of themselves – you need to stop immediately.
