During a conversation with Xander De Rycke in the podcast ‘Mussels at half past two’, Erik Van Looy (61) reveals a hilarious but unfortunate side effect of his celebrity. The presenter admits to having caused an eye infection by applying make-up himself.
“Every time I go out in a social context, I have to put on a little make-up,” he admits. This is because he is often asked for selfies, which then end up on the internet. “So I can’t actually go outside without putting on make-up,” he laughs. But his skills leave much to be desired. “I then do too much or too little or rub my eyes. And now I have an inflamed eye,” he confesses.
His friends add humor to the situation, with fellow guest Bart Cannaerts suggesting that “too little” was probably not the problem. Van Looy assures that he can put on makeup, but now has an ointment for his eye, after he accidentally made a mistake and “now has an STD on my eye”.
