The next interested party is already knocking
The former Ajax coach even believes in Ronaldo’s long-term future at Old Trafford. Asked if the Portuguese could stay at United beyond the season, ten Hag replied “yes” and revealed: “He also has an option”.
Despite the recent confession, the rumors don’t stop. The latest speculation revolves around Real rival Atlético Madrid.
According to the Spanish “AS”, the Rojiblancos are the new favorites in the race for Ronaldo. The 37-year-old attacker is therefore dealing with a transfer to Atlético. Coach Diego Simeone was also impressed by the prospect of being able to work with the veteran. Internally, the 52-year-old coach is said to have even campaigned for Ronaldo. The attacker played for Los Blancos from 2009 to 2018.
Meanwhile, “Marca” does not believe in a short-term move to Madrid. The transfer is “financially unfeasible”, Atlético must first earn more than 40 million euros to make a commitment possible.
