Part two of the press conference:
In an interview with Andy Mitten and the United We Stand fanzine, Erik ten Hag expressed that he does not think he should have done anything differently when it comes to Jadon Sancho.
The winger is currently banned from all involvement with the first team after stating that Ten Hag’s claims about training efforts were a lie, and in part two of Friday’s press conference, Ten Hag was asked about Sancho, in light of the January window opening soon.
– It’s about a culture, and each and every player has to stick to certain standards, and it was about that. So as for what will happen to him, he knows what he has to do if he wants to return. So it’s up to him.
Ten Hag was then asked a follow-up question about whether he agreed that what is happening now cannot continue, and the Dutchman then responded in exactly the same way.
– He knows what he has to do. It’s up to him.
SANCHO’S LAST GAME FOR UNITED: Against Nottingham Forest, 26 August. Stu Forster
Later in the press conference, Ten Hag was asked if Sancho is still on full salary.
– I believe that it is an internal matter. We’ll see what happens.
The same journalist tried a reformulation, saying that in that case it would be a waste of the club’s funds, and that it might be best for all parties if they separate teams, but Ten Hag had no plans to go into more detail about Sancho .
– As I said, it is an internal matter, and we will see what happens.
