Edmonton is said to want Erik Karlsson, but a deal seems unlikely.
After receiving several questions about it, the Swede roared off.
– You have asked those questions four times now, he told the reporters and left the interview.
Erik Karlsson has had an impressive season in San José, where a couple of weeks ago he became the fastest back to reach 70 assists in a season in 33 years.
In recent weeks, there has been speculation surrounding his future, with Edmonton reportedly looking to sign him.
In his contract there is a clause (no-move) which means that he can decide his future himself. According to Sportsnet, Karlsson should be open to a move – but is no longer counting on it.
– I think it would be strange if (Mike Grier, general manager) comes to me with three days left and asks me to waive my no-move. We’ve had plenty of time for that if that was the case so I’m not too worried about it, he says according to The Athletic.
The star darkened
Karlsson does not dwell on the disappointment of not getting three.
– It sucks in a way. It is what it is, but me and my family enjoy it here. We’ve had a good year and I’m happy to be playing hockey, he says.
– But not playing important matches and having the chance to play in the playoffs is tough. And that’s not something I’m happy about.
When the subject came up again and again, the Swede grew tired.
– You have asked those questions four times now, Karlsson roars at a reporter and leaves.
The 32-year-old has four years left on his contract and earns $11.5 million a year.
The deadline for completing triads is 9pm on Friday night.
