The General Chairperson of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board, KH Yahya Cholil Staquf, has officially appointed Erick Thohir to become Chair of the PBNU Human Resources Study and Development Institute (Lakpesdam).
The news of Erick Thohir becoming Chairman of the PBNU Lakpesdam was conveyed by Gus Yahya at the Opening Ceremony of the 2023 NU Thought Congress at the Pondok Gede Haji Dormitory, Jakarta, on Friday (1/12/2023) evening.
Now, Erick has officially replaced the previous Chair of the PBNU Lakpesdam, namely KH Ulil Abshar Abdalla and Hasanuddin Ali. Gus Yahya also admitted that he had signed PBNU’s latest Decree (SK).
“I have signed a new decree, and the chairman of Lakpesdam has changed. Chairman of Lakpesdam is Erick Thohir,” said Gus Yahya.
Gus Yahya hopes that this change in leadership within the PBNU Lakpesdam can provide new energy in developing NU operations through the role of the PBNU Lakpesdam.
“Because I want to build technocracy in NU’s organizational operations and Mr. Erick is a very experienced person track record A very good performance in that matter,” said Raudlatut Thalibin Leteh, Rembang, Central Java’s Caregiver.
Gus Yahya even said that under the leadership of Erick Thohir, PBNU’s Lakpesdam was declared as PBNU’s National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas).
“I want to build this Lakpesdam into PBNU’s Bappenas. “Mr Erick is ready,” he said.
For information, Lakpesdam PBNU is holding the 2023 NU Thought Congress at the Pondok Gede Haji Dormitory, Jakarta on 1-3 December 2023. This forum carries the theme Imagining the Future Society.
PBNU Chairman KH Ulil Abshar Abdalla or Gus Ulil said that this agenda was attended by around 750 participants from across circles and generations. This forum was attended by scholars, thinkers, social activists, Islamic boarding school students and kiai, as well as the general public.
The participants who attended did not only come from NU circles, but also involved external parties who were interested in this agenda. This initiative strengthens NU’s concept of inclusivity and active participation in designing the foundations of an ideal society for Indonesia.
“This concept can be a starting point for us, for NU cadres, scholars and thinkers, to imagine what an ideal society would look like,” said Gus Ulil.
The 2023 NU Thought Congress is a continuation of the first NU Thought Congress which was held in Situbondo in 2001. At that time, national figures such as Nurcholis Madjid, KH Masdar Farid Mas’udi, KH Masyhuri Naim, and other intellectual figures were present.
