Erick Elías talks about ‘Accident’ on Netflix and ‘Wake up, Mom’ – CHIC Magazine

Erick Elías is recognized for his versatility and charisma on screen, and has been building an impressive career in the entertainment world for more than 22 years old.

From his beginnings in music, and then in soap operas that catapulted him to fame, to his foray into film and streaming platforms, Erick has proven to be a multifaceted actor.

Now, in a new stage of his career, he is embarking on two exciting projects that promise to continue consolidating his name in the industry.

The first one is Accidenta drama series that has just premiered on Netflix, in which he plays a father who loses his daughter during an unfortunate children’s party.

“I am excited to be able to gradually do different projects. And in this one, I was able to put together a story with a lot of drama and intensity, with a very interesting cast, with many friends, which was very fun to film… I am satisfied with what has happened in my career and in my life. I think they have been slow, firm steps, but I am happy with what I have achieved so far,” he shared with us. Erick in interview.

A better actor

With this project, the actor also says he has experienced a professional evolution.

“My character is a psychologist and playing him allowed me, rather than judging the reaction of others, to understand the anger that is felt in a situation like this… Also the personal experiences I have had and the experiences with my daughters, They have given me another perspective when facing a script like this.. I was able to see it with different eyes and I think that, with the years that I have had, and after my midlife crisis, I have gone through several stages that, I think, have made me a better actor,” he says.

Regarding that personal episode that he went through, Erick assures that, more than a crisis, it was the perfect opportunity to rereinvent yourself and redirect your path.

“I had to live it right during the pandemic, when I turned 40, locked up at home… It was a time to reconsider and honestly think about what I was doing right, what I was doing wrong, and what I still had to do, Because I felt that what I had not achieved until that moment, I could never do again.. I also reflected on what I have achieved financially, what I have been able to achieve with my daughters and I asked myself: How badly am I doing, what have I not done with my life, what have I missed? I don’t know, there were a lot of questions I asked myself, but, on the other hand, I managed to relax a lot more,” she said.

And he added: “That crisis lasted maybe a few months, but then, after questioning myself so much, I changed to saying: ‘Fuck it! I’m going to enjoy what I have and what I am.’ So, Now I feel fulfilled, I am happy and I am letting go with everything. “With several aspects that used to worry me or make me wonder if they were good for me or not, I now relax more, I take the risk and, if I make a mistake, I’ll see what I can do later. But without pressure,” he says.

Tell a good story

Another of the projects that Erick has recently premiered the film Wake up, momdirected by Panamanian filmmaker Arianne Benedetti. This is a raw reflection on the forced disappearance of minors in Latin America.

“I was very excited when Arianne told me about this script, because she is a director, producer, writer and actress. I liked that she had such a clear project in mind, and besides, working outside my country and leaving my safe zone has always been very exciting… I had to go to Panama for a while, so I got to know a lot about the country, the food, the culture, and the main thing is that it is a very interesting story that talks about the disappearance of children, a topic that unfortunately is very present and haunts us to this day… Personally, I cannot even imagine the desperation of a father when he tries to find a child, but I like to put these problems on the table and these are projects that always give a lot of satisfaction. We were already presenting it at the Guadalajara International Film Festival “And apart from going to other festivals, it will soon be released in cinemas across the continent. I am delighted, because it is one of those small projects that does not need millions of dollars to tell a good story,” he says.

Family life

Between all the traveling and filming, Erick She says she has already achieved a balance between her career and family life, although she admits that it was not an easy process.

“I can definitely say that that is the weak point of my life and my career as an actor. Being separated from my wife and daughters for such long periods of time is what has cost me the most, what hurts me the most and what I suffer the most… Lately I have had to make many sacrifices, because when my daughters were younger, it was easy to travel together.

Then, when we decided to come and live in MiamiWe just packed our bags and that was it. We wanted to try it for a year, but then our stay got longer. Another project came up, which was Betty in NY, and then the series 100 days to fall in love. The pandemic came and we stayed until we settled here, but they have already grown up and it is more difficult to get them out of their routine and their space,” she says.

According to his wife, Karla Guindiand their daughters, Penelope y Oliviaare his only priority at this time and he appreciates that they support him in all his professional decisions.

“Because I am the one who moves, but it is complicated for everyone. In fact, the only thing that I sometimes put as a condition in the contract is not to work on certain dates that are important and I must be there. And if I can’t, I don’t get involved, because I don’t want to have a bad time. So, before starting a project, everyone knows that those two or three days I need to be at home with my family“That’s the only way I’ve achieved it,” he says.
