Erica Meiland candid about empire: “Not very many millions”

By the way, Maxime and Montana are in their parents’ company, but they do receive compensation for their participation in their popular reality series Chateau Meiland. They simply send an invoice for that. “With Martien and me, everything is 50/50”, says Erica.

Million dollar company

Such a multi-million dollar company is naturally there to expand. Erica is full of plans and ideas. The next step has already been taken: the BV has been expanded with another service. What that exactly entails, she keeps in the middle for a while. But it is certain that a webshop will be added: “That is coming, yes.”

In addition, there is a chance that the Meilandjes will produce their reality series themselves in the future. “It could be in the future. Our contract expires at the end of this year, so we may do things differently.”

John de Mol

The Meilandjes score ratings hit after ratings hit on SBS 6, but had never visited Talpa boss John de Mol. Until last spring. “We were allowed to have an audience,” says Erica in the interview with 7DTV. “We received a message from René Oosterman, John’s right-hand man. We always have good contact with them.”

De Mol wanted to meet the Meilandjes. “Then I thought: I understand that too. I don’t think that’s surprising, we’ve been a good hit on TV for so long.”

At the kitchen table

Erica also wanted Montana and Maxime to visit, so there they went: the four of us visited John de Mol. “Well, really nice,” says Erica. “We sat at his large conference table for an hour.”

The Meilandjes liked that very much. “He is a super friendly man. We heard here and there that he is not nice and that he barks at people, but I thought: I see. It was a very nice conversation. We all had our say and it was nice and a bit messy. Just like at the kitchen table, so to speak.”
