Eric Wilson, the British who has visited Lanzarote 90 times since 1989

Despite Brexit, a large number of British tourists have maintained their passion for visiting Spain, and in particular, the Canary Islands.

One of the most passionate is undoubtedly Eric Wilson, a resident of the English town of Romford, 23 kilometres from London (United Kingdom), who has been visiting Lanzarote continuously since 1989.

For 35 yearsWilson has not failed any exercise with his rabbit appointment and in fact he has already 90 visits to the island. On all occasions he has stayed at the same hotel, Dreams Lanzarote Playa Dorada, from the Hyatt group.

For his 90th stay, the hotel arranged a special pick-up from the airport, and upon arriving at reception he was met by a surprise welcome party.

Room 1256

Eric Wilson, who is now 79 years old, admits to being in love with the island and the Dreams Lanzarote Playa Dorada, a hotel that he has visited up to six times a year, always staying in his favourite room, room 1256.

“Although all the rooms are very nice, the location of 1256 is very centraland it allows me to move around the hotel very well,” he explains.

According to him, for a long time He did “stressful work in the real estate sector”“and whenever he could, during the 8 weeks he had on holiday, he would escape to Lanzarote.

Lanzarote, favorite destination

Wilson, who has two children and a grandson, began travelling to Lanzarote in 1989, when there were hardly any hotels in the area. He has been to 61 countries, but no place has fulfilled him as much as the island of Conejera.

“I have been to many hotels, but in this one they take care of you, and you feel that love. A hotel with good facilities without customer service is nothing. I feel at home, and its employees are family,” says Wilson about the hotel where he always stays, whose favorite activities are the water polo and karaokewhile his favorite dishes at the establishment are the Salmon and piña colada.
