Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has revealed that Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are the two players who have impressed him the most.
Bailly – who joined Manchester United in 2016 – is currently on loan for a season at Marseille but still has a lot of praise for his teammates at Old Trafford.
The Ivorian had the chance to play alongside some of the biggest names in world football, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but it was United’s two young strikers who stood out.
In particular, Rashford was the leading interpreter of Bailly, who revealed that the England international had “blown him away”.
“I have met many great players in Manchester. But if I have to talk about everyone who impressed me, we will never finish this interview, ”Bailly told L’Equipe.
“There was incredible talent, both old and young. Someone like Marcus Rashford really drove me crazy. Antonio Marziale too.
The pair made a promising start to the season under Eric ten Hag after both endured frustrating years at the club.
Rashford scored three goals for the Red Devils while Martial scored three goals including two in the Manchester derby.
Martial was loaned to Sevilla last season, while Rashford was strongly linked to a new challenge at Paris Saint-Germain in August.
Both remained at Old Trafford and United are now reaping the rewards of improved form, although Martial has continued to struggle with injuries.
Ten Hag has given all of his forwards a clean slate this season with Rashford and Martial being favorites over Ronaldo, who has seen his playing time limited to substitute appearances and Europa League matches.
Ronaldo stepped off the bench to score his 700th league goal in Sunday’s 2-1 win at Everton.
The Portuguese star replaced the injured Martial in the 29th minute, but it only took him 15 minutes to score the winning goal at Goodison Park.
With United showing bits of promise and, at times, and the new defensive solidity that was missing last season, it seems like Bailly’s story was written at the club.
The Marseille agreement includes the obligation to redeem the Ivorian at the end of his loan period at the Stade Velodrome.
