KANALSATU – Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the health challenges facing people in the city of Surabaya.
Based on data, by 2023 it is estimated that there will be more than 10,000 TB cases, with more than 8800 victims treated by Surabaya City Health Service.
Nationally, the Ministry of Health also recorded that TB cases in Indonesia occurred at 301 incidents per 100,000 population with a death rate of 34 cases per 100,000 population. This then makes Indonesia the second largest contributor to TB cases after India.
To overcome this, ERHA Ultimate participated in the Government’s program related to the target of accelerating the elimination of tuberculosis 2030. “We believe that the collaboration between ERHA Ultimate, Surabaya City Health Service and other stakeholders will help eradicate tuberculosis in Surabaya,” Oemar reiterated.
At the event held at Taman Flora, the Head of Surabaya City Health Service, Nanik Sukristina, said that control in taking TB medication is very important for patients.
“At the beginning of 2024, the Surabaya City Health Service will have carried out mass TB examinations or screening for 273,000 people in the city of Surabaya. “We are collaborating with strategic partners from the Health Service to make it easier to find people suffering from TB,” he said.
Nanik said that until now, there are many patients who are still ashamed to be exposed if they are diagnosed with TB. This makes it difficult for the Department of Health to reach patients.
“Today, we gathered together with the families of TB victims to strengthen them, give more information and also give hypnotherapy to the patients so that they have tips not to forget the TB medicine that gives us through PUSKESMAS to take,” he said.
The hope is that through active collaboration as ERHA has done today, the public will become more aware of the importance of health checks, especially in areas of infectious diseases such as tuberculosis.
