At the very beginning of the last month of the year, on December 2, the Swedish “folk / viking metal” band “Ereb Altor” will give a concert in the Vagonu Hall.
“Ereb Altor” is currently one of the most well-known, if not the most well-known, bands playing in the “folk / pagan / viking metal” genre of Sweden, which has also visited us at least a couple of times – both in a solo concert and at the festival “Zobens und Lemess” in Bauska.
The group has eight albums, the latest of which is “Vargtimman” (2022). This does not cause any worries about unwanted surprises, because nothing has changed in terms of sound – the band continues to combine Scandinavian folk music and so-called “pure” chants in their sound, mixing them with the basic values, melodiousness and heaviness of Viking and pagan metal.
“It is a great pleasure that Riga is also a stop on the group’s tour. Our neighboring countries have changed the tour schedules of many musicians in the last few months, of course attending concerts is also unpredictable at the moment, but welcoming friends again is always nice. It’s just a pity that there is one less – the band’s bassist Kristof’s sudden departure was a shock to the band, to us, and to everyone else, but to meet long-lost friends in Riga, which they love so much, and to take them on a tour to a brewery – this is an adventure for all of us, which it can only happen once in a few years,” enthuses Herta Jūlija Barkāne, producer of the association “Vārnu Laiks”, the organizers of the concert.
The special guest of the concert is the Italian “ambient black metal” band “Enisum”, which will visit Riga for the first time.
