Erdogan Wins Second Round of Turkish Presidential Election with 52.16% of Votes: Reaction and Speech

The only winner is Turkey. This was stated by President Recep Erdogan after the run-off and his victory. With 99% of the votes counted, Erdogan collected 52.16% of the votes, and Kemal Kulçdaroglu – 47.84%, reports NTV Haber.

“The winners of the May 14 and May 28 elections are all 85 million citizens of Turkey,” Erdogan said.

The Turkish president addressed the crowd in Istanbul from the roof of a bus, thanking them for their support and indicating that the responsibility to rule for the next 5 years has been given.

Erdogan’s speech

“My dear friends and colleagues, I greet you with the warmest feelings. We have completed the second round of the presidential election with the favor of our nation. I would like to express my gratitude to my nation for giving us democracy day between 2 holidays. I want to thank all my citizens who went to the polls and showed will for the future of themselves and their children,” Erdogan said during his speech, as quoted by Hurriyet.

“I congratulate all the members of our organization, our women and youth branches and all those who volunteered to make the election smooth. I salute our women, I salute our youths and I salute all my brothers and sisters who have given their hearts to the cause of the party. I would like to thank everyone who went to the polls. I would like to thank every citizen who has once again entrusted us with the responsibility of running the country for the next 5 years with the choices they have made. We hope we will be worthy of your trust. We will be worthy, as we have been for 21 years,” he added.

“Today’s election is the form of our conversation in the fire of democracy. Just as iron is formed in fire, your will has become the unbreakable force in urns. So only Turkey is the winner today. We opened the door to the Turkish century. Together we realized the dreams of everyone in our nation. Together we have fixed the hopes of our friends, whose hearts and eyes are turned to us. We will celebrate every victory with you again. Now we have 2024 ahead of us. Are we ready to win both Uskudar and Istanbul in the 2024 local elections? Don’t stop, we will work hard,” said Erdogan.

“Elections come and go. The flood goes away, the sand remains. The main thing is that our country does not deviate from its goals. It is to protect the unity of our nation. The election results have shown once again that no one can wish away the gains of this country. No one can look down on our nation, insult our people and imprison our youth in their bottomless darkness. No one can break our nation’s resolve to be one, big brother and Turkey together. Now let’s shout so loud that Ankara can hear it. Let all the neighborhoods of Istanbul hear this. Our family is holy. No one can speak against the family. Violence against women is prohibited in our country. We will do what we promised our nation in the coming period,” Erdogan was quoted as saying by the Turkish media.

During his speech, Erdoğan also took some time for his opponent, addressing Kulçdaroğlu with the words: “Bye, bye, Kemal.”
