President of Turkey Recep Erdogan wrote supports the move by the International Criminal Court or ICC to issue an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Erdogan said it was a brave decision.
“We support the arrest warrant,” Erdogan said in a speech in Istanbul, Türkiye, as reported AFPSaturday (23/11/2024).
In addition to Netanyahu, it is also known that the ICC has issued an arrest warrant for former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. Erdogan believes that the ICC’s decision is a move to restore public trust in the international system that Israel seemed to have forgotten when it attacked Gaza.

“We believe it is important that this bold decision is implemented by all contracting states to renew humanitarian trust in the international system,” he said.
The ICC issued warrants against Israeli leaders and Hamas military chief Mohammed Deif on Thursday (21/11) on charges of crimes against humanity and war crimes in the Gaza conflict. Erdogan pushed for the immediate implementation of this policy.
“It is very important for Western countries – which have been teaching the world for law, justice and human rights for years – to keep their promises at this stage,” Erdogan said.
As is known, ICC on Thursday (21/11) released arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant on suspicion of war crimes and crimes against humanity, guaranteed from October 8, 2023 to at least May 20, 2024.
The ICC judges, in their decision to issue the arrest warrant, said there were reasonable grounds to believe that Netanyahu and Gallant were “criminally responsible” for war crimes by starvation as a means of warfare in The Gaza conflict and crimes against humanity murder, ill-treatment and other illegal acts against Palestinians.
