ANKARA – President Turkey , Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey will be able to overcome pandemic Covid-19 . Erdogan said Turkey would soon “leave” Covid-19 through a mass vaccination program.

Responding to questions about the pandemic and when it will end, while speaking at the commemoration of Father’s Day, Erdogan said Turkey has been ahead of other countries in everything from health services to public safety since the start of the pandemic.

“At a time when supplying vaccines is very difficult, we run a fast vaccination schedule thanks to the connections we make in a timely manner,” he said, as reported by Anadolu Agency on Monday (21/6/2021).

“We have had some setbacks, but we have also overcome this delay. We are in good shape now. Hopefully we can overcome this disaster soon, “he hoped.

Erdogan said domestic vaccination studies were continuing and the target was to start independent vaccine production in September-October. Also read: Erdogan: Turkey Will Not Change Direction on F-35s and S-400s

“Currently, the infection rate has fallen seriously. But, we need to lower this level further. The number of cases is around 5,000 per day. We think this is too much. The daily death toll is around 50. We don’t want this either,” Erdogan said.

“Our hope is that both of us will bring down the number of cases to double digits and bring down the number of deaths to single digits, vaccination is the best tool to achieve that. We are also good at importing vaccines and we will continue to do so, quickly,” he said.

In response to a question about anti-vaxxers, Erdogan called on them to respect science. He said it was impossible to deny science. Also read: Turkey players apologize after being knocked out of Euro 2020

“It is the responsibility of scientists to develop vaccines and make them applicable to humans. Our job is to use vaccines developed by the best experts in their fields, while respecting science. We cannot exclude ourselves from a process that includes the entire world population,” he added.
