“Erdogan leads Quick Count Results in Turkey’s Presidential Election”

General election quick count results (elections) Turki the second round starts out.

According to an Anadolu news agency report quoted by Reuters on Sunday (28/5) local time, the incumbent Recep Tayyip Erdogan led with a provisional gain of 54.78 percent.

Meanwhile, politicians Kemal Kilicdaroglu was at 45.22 percent. As of 22.38 WIB, 66.65 percent of the ballot boxes had been counted.

Türkiye held its second round of presidential elections today, Sunday (28/5). In the second round, incumbent Recep Tayyip Erdogan and politician Kemal Kilicdaroglu competed.

In the first round, Kilicdaroglu won 44.88 percent of the vote, narrowly losing to Erdogan, who received 49.51 percent of the vote.

Neither achieved a majority or more than 50 percent of the vote in that round. Therefore, the election continues to the second round.

Türkiye holds elections every five years. Presidential candidates can be nominated by parties that have crossed the 5 percent voter threshold in the last parliamentary election or have collected at least 100,000 signatures supporting their candidacy.

The candidate who obtained more than 50 percent of the vote in the first round was elected president.

If no candidate obtains a majority of votes, then the election proceeds to a second round between the two candidates who obtain the highest number of votes in the first round.
