Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said he will have a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the coming days, adding that Putin “must take the next step in leaving the war,” Milliyet reported.
The conversation is expected to take place this weekend or in the first days of the new week, the publication notes in a publication entitled “Putin, give up with honor”.
The topic of the Turkish president’s conversation with the Russian leader will be the NATO emergency meeting held in Brussels, BTA notes.
We need to tell Putin, “Now you have to be the architect of the step that needs to be taken for peace at this stage.” We must find a way to end the crisis well, telling Putin: “In the next stage, let you be the first to take the step to come out of this war with honor,” the Turkish president said.
Milliyet said Erdogan made the statement on his return from an emergency NATO summit in Brussels on a plane in front of Turkish journalists covering the event.
