This “Turkish pentagon” is in the shape of a crescent and star, similar to the Turkish flag. This giant building has an area of 13 million square meters with an indoor area of 890 thousand square meters and can accommodate about 15 thousand personnel.
Later, this new building will become the new home for the Turkish Ministry of Defense.
In the first stone -laying ceremony, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the building would instill fear in the enemy.
“We will build a structure here that will frighten our enemies with their positions and give confidence to our friends,” said Erdogan at the ceremony.

The groundbreaking for the construction of this building was carried out on Monday to coincide with Victory Day, commemorating the Turkish War of Independence almost a century ago.
The complex is planned to be completed in May 2023 and will be used by staff from the Turkish army and its Ministry of National Defense.
